Prepare an Emergency Hurricane Box
This project was intended to test and build my video production skills, utilizing high-quality bitmap graphics, scripted narration, and various video effects. After selecting the relevant topic for Florida, "How to prepare an emergency hurricane box", I began working on a script for the voiceover I would record. Once the script was complete, I searched the web for appropriate images that matched the steps I had constructed. Since I could not find free, high-quality images on iStock or Flickr, I used a variety of sources, including Pexels, Google search results, and Canva Pro, to create many graphics. After completing the images, I recorded the voiceover for my script using Podomatic, which helped me record the audio piece for each slide and stay organized. While perusing royalty-free music on incompetech.com, I chose to download 'Bleeping Demo' for background music in my video. From there, I uploaded my images, audio recordings, and background music to Microsoft Clipchamp, aligned the timing, added transitions, effects, and added closed captioning throughout the video. I used a variety of transitions, chosen to align with the images in the video. These included morph glitch, circular wipe, blinds, liquid streaks, page turn, exchange, zoom in, and burn.
Additionally, I integrated effects on some slides, such as a slow zoom-in, a glow, and a VHS effect. I strived to maintain a flow throughout the video, integrating images, effects, audio, and background music. The closed captioning throughout the video aims to make it more accessible to all viewers. This project was familiar to me, as I have created training videos in my professional role that incorporate closed captioning and slides designed to capture users' attention. However, having creative freedom in the video's intent allowed me to explore additional features of Clipchamp that I had not used before. My goal for the finished product is that it helps others who are newcomers to hurricane seasons and are struggling to know where to start with their preparations.
